George Winston Creshine, devoted to family, church
George Winston Creshine, 92, of Millsboro, entered the gates of heaven to live with Jesus Sunday, March 20, 2022. He was born Feb. 22, 1930, in Chester, Pa., son of the late Winston and Greta (Blythe) Creshine.
George worked hard throughout his life providing for his family. As a young man, he worked in manufacturing, insurance sales and as a milkman for Wawa Dairy for 10 years. His last career was as a guard at BP in Marcus Hook, Pa., where he retired after 25 years of service.
After retiring, George and Eleanor pursued their dream of living at the beach. They made their home along the Indian River Bay in Long Neck, where they enjoyed 40 years at their beach home fishing and crabbing on George’s pontoon boat and riding around in his golf cart. He was a talented woodworker and enjoyed creating beautiful pieces for his family and home.
George was a member of the Community Church of Oak Orchard and served the Lord in many ways. He was an active member of the choir and served as a song leader for the worship service. He ministered to his church family through song and was often called upon to perform solos and with small groups. George was often asked to sing at funeral services and memorial services for friends. One often requested favorite was “The Last Mile of the Way.” He was a charter member of the A.G.A.P.E. seniors group, served as an elder for several years, and was elected elder emeritus upon his retirement from the church board. In addition to serving at his church, George communicated via email to people across the country every day, encouraging and praying with his fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. George was a loving husband, father, and grandfather; he will be greatly missed by those who were blessed to have known him.
George is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Eleanor R. (Grimes) Creshine; his son, George W. Creshine Jr. (Theresa) of New Castle; his daughter, Ruth E. Pedrick (William) of Lancaster, Pa.; and his grandchildren, William Pedrick (Hannah) and Ruth Pedrick of Lancaster, Pa.
Final care has been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
