Georgetown man faces manslaughter charge in shooting incident

A Georgetown man faces charges after police say he shot a woman while showing her a shotgun.

Police responded to a home about 6 p.m., May 17, in the 22000 block of Deep Branch Road, where they found a woman, 54, had been shot inside the home, said Sr. Cpl. Jason Hatchell of the Delaware State Police.

The woman died from her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman’s identity is pending notification of next of kin.

Hatchell said Jordan Walls, 26, was showing the woman a 20-gauge shotgun when a gunshot was fired.

Walls was taken into custody without incident and transported to Troop 4, where he was charged with felony manslaughter and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $120,000 cash bond.
