Gertrude Betsy Finch, devoted to family

Gertrude Betsy Finch passed away at home Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025. She was born April 13, 1933, to Elsie Mary Lutton and Ralph Lutton in Wallasey, Cheshire, England.
 
Betsy had two sisters, Ivy Patricia and Joyce, and two brothers, Stanley and Thomas, who resides in England with his wife, Mary, and their daughter, Alison. Betsy and her husband Bob, who was born in Toledo, Ohio, and died at home in 2022, met in England when Bob was stationed there during the Korean Conflict. Bob was serving in the U.S. Air Force. They became engaged, and Betsy came to the U.S., where they were married in April 1955.
 
Betsy is survived by her wonderful daughters, Donna Finch Ferguson and Victoria Finch; and her dear granddaughters, Amy Ferguson and Elizabeth Ferguson.
 
For many years, Betsy had an antique shop in New Market, Md., and when she retired in 2007, she and Bob moved to Lewes. Betsy studied art under Virginia Watkins Hazel in Ellicott City, Md., and she won ribbons for her oil painting exhibits.
 
The highlight of Betsy’s life was becoming an American citizen, and she loved her adopted country, where she found so much kindness.
 
Betsy was a member of Long Neck Methodist Church.
 
She will be missed by all who knew her.
