Giant Food awards $3,204 to Rehoboth Elementary School

June 8, 2010

Giant Food of Landover, Md., is presenting close to $2 million to local schools in Delmarva as a result of its 2009-10 A+ Bonus Bucks program.

Delaware schools were awarded more than $28,500. A+ Bonus Bucks provides a simple way for schools to earn funds to support school programs and enrichment activities every time a customer makes a purchase in a Giant store.

“Over the past 20 years, Giant has awarded more than $81 million to schools in the Mid-Atlantic region through A+,” said Robin Michel, president of Giant Food of Landover, Md. “We’re very pleased that 64 schools in Delaware participated in the A+ Bonus Bucks program this year. Giant and our customers are making a difference in the lives of hundreds of thousands of students in Maryland; Virginia; Washington, D.C.; and Delaware.”

The A+ Bonus Bucks program is linked to shoppers’ Giant Food cards, earning points for in-store purchases. Giant customers can designate up to three schools to benefit from their purchases. In the past, funds raised by A+ Bonus Bucks have helped purchase new computers, additional classroom technology, musical instruments and athletic uniforms, as well as funded school aids, field trips, sports and after-school programs.

Among the schools in Delaware that received the largest awards from the 2009-10 program were Rehoboth Elementary School with $3,204.23 and Long Neck Elementary School with $1,113.38.
