Girls Night Out to fight MS set Sept. 17 in Dover

August 28, 2015

Women from across the state will gather from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 17, for the fourth annual Girls Night Out to Fight MS event. The New Orleans-inspired event will be held at The Point at Noble’s Pond at 13 Noble’s Pond Crossing, Dover.

Girls Night Out, organized by Colleen Ostafy, lifestyle director at Noble’s Pond, will be fun-filled with complimentary heavy hors d’oeuvres and a signature cocktail, an extensive silent auction featuring premier items and services from Delaware businesses and two fashion shows sponsored by Dressbarn and Knight’s Fine Jewelry. Guests will be greeted by the cool jazz sounds of the Joe Baione duo, and the evening’s celebration will kick off with a dance performance to “All That Jazz.”

Shopping opportunities abound with many unique boutiques, and Ghostar Sound Entertainment will spin the tunes for a fun-filled girls' dance party. Sponsors of this event are Noble’s Pond, Dover Post, Abbott's Grill, Maple Dale Country Club, Pizza Delight by Giacomo, Captains Catch, Doc Magrogan’s Oyster House, Frederica Pizza and Pasta House, An Affair to Remember Catering and Cajun Queens.

After the last three years' attendance of over 500 people, this is an event not to be missed. “What a fantastic time we had the last three years, raising money and having a blast with all our girlfriends. This year will be over the top, with new table boutiques, a martini bar, a wine bar from Boisset Family Estates, tons of fantastic items for auction, dancing and an overwhelming variety of food and drinks,” said Ostafy.

Girls Night Out carries a lot of significance in the MS community. Noble’s Pond was named Corporation of the Year in 2013 by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Delaware Chapter. “We were so proud to be honored with this recognition and plan to continue the fight for a cure until the day that one is found,” said Ostafy. Nationally, twice as many women as men are diagnosed with the disease; locally, 73 percent of those diagnosed with MS are women.

“This is a great opportunity for women to fight against multiple sclerosis. Funds raised will support national research projects that look into the cause of MS, the development of more effective treatments and one day soon a cure,” said Meg Dipanni, vice president of development for the National MS Society, Greater Delaware Valley Chapter.
