Go Fourth Lewes Fireworks group seeks community donations

Late application window cuts fundraising time short
June 9, 2021

After a year without much sparkle at all, the Go Fourth Lewes Fireworks Committee is thrilled to be planning for its third annual display off a barge near Lewes Beach, set for Sunday, July 4, at dusk.

The event is fully approved and following state guidelines, but organizers were unable to apply until late May, so time is short for raising funds and getting news to the viewing public. Committee members are seeking donations from the amazing Lewes community to make the fireworks fly in 2021.

Go Fourth Lewes Fireworks are completely citizen funded, not sponsored by the City of Lewes or Lewes Chamber of Commerce. Funds are needed to cover all expenses, from the fireworks to the barge to city services to portable restroom facilities. There is no time for a mail campaign, and 2021 will be a totally grassroots effort without advertising or posters, just this simple request for public donations.

Also, organizers are asking the public to plan ahead and minimize problems related to crowd management and traffic. The event will focus again on high aerial fireworks displays, so the viewing area is wide and the show can be seen from far off Lewes Beach.
