Under the watchful eye of the Rev. Boniface Black and parishioners, a new dome and cross were placed on Saint Andrew Orthodox Church, 33384 Mackenzie Way off Plantation Rd., Lewes on April 7. The local Eastern Orthodox Community is delighted with the new dome and cross, set in place the week of the Orthodox Easter, a week later than the Julian calendar.
The dome was manufactured in Cleveland, Ohio, by Architectural Fiberglass Inc. and delivered in sections. Locally, Rufus Joseph was in charge of installing it atop the church. Saint Andrew Church is the only Orthodox church in Sussex County, a growing family of Orthodox Christians from varied ethnic backgrounds. They will soon begin to expand church facilities, add a great hall and expand classrooms. For information, contact 645-5791 or visit orthodoxdelmar.org.
