Golf fundraiser to benefit Seaford Swimming Association Oct. 26

Historic community pool needs upgrades
September 17, 2019

The Seaford Swimming Association will host its inaugural golf tournament fundraiser Saturday, Oct. 26, at Hooper’s Landing Golf Course, 1019 W. Locust St., Seaford. The rain date is Saturday, Nov. 2.

The single golfer fee is $60 including lunch. There will be prizes for longest drive and closest to the pin, and a putting contest, along with a chance to win a new car on a hole-in-one par three. Business sponsor costs range from $60 for a hole sponsor sign to $125 for a lunch sponsor and three signs, to $400 for a foursome, golf cart, lunch and three hole signs.

The event will be a capital fundraiser for the pool, which was established in 1956 and after 63 years of operation has become a historic landmark on Craig’s Mill Road, Seaford. With age comes the need for ongoing upgrades in plumbing, lighting, pump and bathhouse facilities. The pool supports the Dolphins swim team, swim lessons for members and nonmembers (for a nominal fee), fun days for special needs children, and the Boy Scouts swimming test and merit badge requirements.

The Seaford Swimming Association is a nonprofit society, not supported by any city or national organization, so it depends on the generous support of community members, businesses and other sponsors. The golf fundraiser will be the fifth and largest event of the 2019 summer season, and qualified donations are tax deductible in accordance with state/federal laws. Registration information includes a federal tax ID number.
