Those who attended the Rehoboth Beach Homeowners’ Association’s candidates’ forum July 20, got to see candidate Suzanne Goode in rare form. By that I mean she was restrained and cooperative. My experience with her on the Rehoboth Beach Stormwater Utility Task Force was quite different. She was disruptive to the point of reprimand from the chairman and was unable to deal with people who didn't agree with her ideas.
Out-of-turn outbursts, harping on the various positions we had voted down was not only time-consuming and annoying, it also made it evident that she was completely ineffective. I share her anger at some of the decisions the mayor and commissioners have made of late, and the issues she brings up in this campaign are legitimate. That said, I feel that she would be ineffective in resolving any of them.
The job of an elected official is not defining problems, it’s solving them. There are at least two candidates in the race who are equally committed to reform and who have demonstrated far better parliamentary skills. In short, Suzanne Goode is not good for Rehoboth.
