American Legion Post 28 spent March 14 celebrating several occasions: the grand opening of its new banquet room, the post’s 43rd birthday and an early St. Patrick’s Day.
The renovated banquet facility was made possible by a state grant. Past Commander and Acting Adjutant Jim Beattie said the $125,500 grant came from his third try for funding, and the project is on budget.
Bar manager and Event Coordinator Lisa Schumann led the project design using previously purchased plans and modifying them to create a banquet space that feels like a new build.
Post Commander Joe Brown commended Beattie and Schumann on their efforts to modify the space for the community.
