Habitat for Humanity breaks ground on fourth home in Ellendale

July 22, 2015

Sussex County Habitat for Humanity broke ground and celebrated a project blessing July 8 at its fourth home in the Ingram Village section of Ellendale.

Habitat’s future homeowner and partner family, Michelle Walker and her daughter Kira, participated in the blessing led by Sussex County Habitat Executive Director Kevin Gilmore and Pastor Carlton Cannon of Seaford’s Clarence Street Church of God. Two other homes currently under construction in Ingram Village will be dedicated in the fall. Gilmore confirmed plans to build at least 12 homes in this subdivision.

Seeking to put God’s love into action, Sussex County Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. Habitat offers an affordable, not-for-profit 30-year mortgage and valuable guidance to families who demonstrate need, have the ability to pay, and are willing to partner. Each adult in the family volunteers 250 hours during construction. Based in Georgetown, the Sussex County Habitat affiliate has constructed more than 100 homes during its 24-year history.
