Happiness Project Music Festival in Camden July 14

July 7, 2018

The Happiness Project Music Festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Saturday, July 14, at Brecknock Park in Camden. The event promotes local community organizations and places an emphasis on mental health awareness. There will be 10 musical acts performing throughout the day, as well as food trucks, local vendors and displays from nonprofit organizations. Admission is free for this family-friendly event.

This is the fourth festival of its kind. The previous three were held in Georgetown, Smyrna and Milford.

"It's exciting to have this event in Camden at Brecknock Park," said Jason Burlew, co-organizer. "We've been talking with Kent County Parks & Recreation for some time about how we could come together and bring something like this to Brecknock. They have been awesome to work with, and this is going to be a great start to something we can build upon and hopefully make this the home of The Happiness Project Music Festival moving forward."

The event is headlined by Jocelyn Faro & The Ragazzi rock band from Annapolis, Md.; Pennsylvania pop duo Danielle & Jennifer; and Dover's own R&B/soul singer Kevin McCove.

Other Delaware performers include Amy Spampinato, performing as the Pretty Crazies, and the Daddy Jam Band, Kelly Lynn Dixon, Caroline Hermance and Single Origin. Additional performers from other areas include rock band Brothers Clair from outside Annapois, and New Jersey singer/songwriters Ashley McKinley and Brianna Vacca.

Food will be offered by food trucks Truck It and Between the Bunz. Some of the organizations already confirmed are Brandywine Counseling, ContactLifeline, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention – Delaware Chapter, Ronald McDonald House of Delaware, The Inspiring Project, American Lung Association and the Brain Injury Association of Delaware.

"This is an all-ages event," Burlew said. "We want families to feel welcome and want everyone to bring chairs, bring blankets, lay them out, kick back and relax, and enjoy the best music you'll find anywhere."
