Harbor of Refuge Lighthouse tour dates to start June 22
The Delaware River & Bay Lighthouse Foundation announced its 2019 tour dates for the Harbor of Refuge Lighthouse. Money raised from the tours will be used to fund ongoing maintenance of the lighthouse.
Trips will depart from the Cape May-Lewes Ferry terminal and sail around the Delaware Breakwater East End Light for photos before proceeding to the Harbor of Refuge Lighthouse for the tour. Once inside, patrons will be able to climb the stairway to the watch room and see the light turning in the lantern room. Each floor offers a stunning view of the National Harbor of Refuge. Volunteers will be on hand to talk about the history of the lighthouse.
Due to the popularity of the 2018 tours, the foundation will conduct two tours each date. Tours are set for 12 and 1:15 p.m., Saturday, June 22; 11 am. and 12:15 p.m., Saturday, July 20; 9:30 and 10:45 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 17; and 1:30 and 2:45 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 21.
