Harriett Q. Magee, longtime nurse
Harriett Q. Magee of Rehoboth Beach passed away surrounded by her family Monday, Dec. 15, 2025.
Harriett was born Feb. 3, 1939, at home to Pearl and Omar Quillen Sr. Harriett was a graduate of Rehoboth High School Class of 1957 and a graduate of Milford Nursing School in 1960. She then embarked on a very long nursing career right in Rehoboth, working for Dr. Klingel until his passing. She then stayed there and worked for Dr. Wiltbank. Once she parted Rehoboth, Harriett moved to Lewes to work for Dr. Charles Stanislav until the young age of 80.
Harriett was well known around Rehoboth, and when she and her late husband, Dale, purchased a bait and tackle shop on Love Creek, she began selling local seafood – caught in the Rehoboth and Indian River bays and the Ocean City area – to many of the restaurants in Rehoboth.
Harriett enjoyed vacationing in Virginia and touring the wineries with family. Throughout her life, she enjoyed several pastimes, such as sitting under the shade trees with friends and family, or knitting. Harriett also loved to eat out with her friends and co-workers, especially from Dr. Charlie’s office.
In addition to her parents, Harriett was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; an older brother, Omar Quillen Jr. (Debbie); a sister, Olive Ann Ward (Fred); and many friends whom she used to go out on the town with. She is survived by her son, Dale (Amy); her granddaughter, Alexandra (Allison); and beloved niece, Harriett Michelle Ward.
Harriett will be remembered for her very strong work ethic. She did so, even if she was sick.
Services will be at a later time set by the family.
