Melissa Wiley, aka the Wiley Coyote from Ocean City, Md., who’s also a nurse practitioner, was the overall female winner at the Memorial Day Highway One Companies 5K, cruising to a time of 21:17 in Dewey Beach. A total of 145 runners completed the out-and-back course.
Matt Sparacino, aka the Harrington Harrier, was the overall champion in 18:02.
Kyle Brightbill, 50, of Philly was the male masters champion in 18:57. Karen Rubinich, 46, of Downingtown, Pa., won the female masters in 21:49.
Chloe Cawthern, 8, won the 9-and-under age group in 30:54. Quinn Burkhardt-Mcgoff, 9, was the male winner in 25:17.
Jules Woodall, 77, the iron man who’s still striding after all these years, won the 75-79 age group in 33:21.
The next Races2Run beach race is the seventh annual SoDel Cares 5K and 1-Mile Walk Saturday June 7, at Thompson Island Brewing Co.
