Health information assistance offered at Lewes library

August 30, 2022

Free and confidential consumer health information assistance will be offered at the Lewes Public Library on a drop-in basis from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursday of each month.

A certified consumer health information specialist will be available to assist patrons with gathering and understanding medical and health information on a variety of topics. From helping community members learn more about conditions and illnesses, medical tests, prescription drugs and medical procedures to understanding mental health and making healthy life choices, this service aims to empower people to find and use reliable information about their health needs.

“If you find getting information about your health is frustrating, you’re not alone,” said Dana Ravyn, CHIS. “People want to understand their health but often don’t know where to find reliable information. With our free and confidential drop-in service, a certified health information professional can help you get the right information from reliable sources.”

No appointment is necessary, and assistance will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, call the library at 302-645-2733 or email dana.ravyn@lib.de.us.

CHIS certification is granted by the Medical Library Association and reflects a dedication to offering quality health information services and staying current with the developments in consumer health information resources, technologies and services.

The program is sponsored, in part, by a grant from the Network of the National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health.
