Healthfest community event set in Laurel May 6

TidalHealth will partner with the Laurel School District to present HealthFest from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, May 6, at Laurel Middle/High School on South Central Avenue in Laurel. 

The free, family-friendly event is designed to provide people of all ages the opportunity to learn just how healthy they are and what they can do to ensure an even healthier, more productive and active lifestyle.

TidalHealth’s annual health fair will feature more than 25 partner exhibitors, healthy living information, presentations and demonstrations, entertainment and more. TidalHealth clinical professionals will be on hand to provide a showcase of exhibits and free screenings.

Popular services and health screenings offered at no cost include cancer prevention information, blood pressure and body mass index, diabetes risk assessment and A1C blood draw for people determined to be at high rise of diabetes, stroke prevention and pain management info, and weight loss tips and bariatric options.

TidalHealth will welcome Baltimore Ravens Pro Bowl fullback Patrick Ricard for a special appearance and autograph session from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Autographs will be free, but limited to one per person to provide everyone an opportunity. Attendees should be sure to bring an item to have signed, as merchandise will not be sold.

Also available are Ask the Provider and Ask the Pharmacist booths, an impaired driving simulator and an opportunity to tour TidalHealth’s new community wellness mobile clinic.

Special demonstrations at HealthFest will include healthy cooking, a senior dance team, a martial arts performance, a collegiate dance team and a chance to meet TidalHealth’s pet therapy dogs.

The kids corner will give youngsters of all ages an opportunity to play games, have their face painted or take home a personalized balloon animal.
