HealTree to present Powerful You: Do Power Differently Oct. 19
HealTree will present Powerful You: Do Power Differently, a one-day educational retreat set for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 19, at 1632 Savannah Road, Suite 10, Lewes.
Facilitating the retreat will be Catrina Stiller, LPCMH-NCC, and Maxine Middlebrook.
Power is the ability to direct or influence the behavior of others or the course of events. In this definition, power is referred to as an external force. However, true power is cultivated from within, and all individuals have the ability to become empowered.
Empowerment enables one to act. It is a process that assists individuals in understanding how their actions produce certain outcomes. Once empowerment is gained, people are more likely to achieve their desired goals in all areas of their lives. Also, relational dynamics shift from an individualized, dominant “power over” focus to a collaborative, collective “power with” focus.
At this retreat, participants will learn skills to build their personal empowerment. This will be accomplished by exploring values, learned power dynamics, expressions of power and application of individualized skills. By the end of the retreat, attendees will have gained a deeper understanding of themselves as well as how to form more powerful connections with others. This will lead to being able to take one’s relationship and/or business to the next level.
Breakfast, lunch, snacks and an optional nature-based guided meditation over the lunch break will be provided. Optional participation in a free-movement dance session follows the close of the event. Stiller is a natural leader and has served in various leadership roles throughout her life. Stiller achieved positions of power within the workforce at a young age. As a curious individual and change agent, she recognized a need for a system of power that allows all members to thrive. Ultimately, she decided the best way to create change is to build a system that focuses on collaboration, so she founded HealTree, where she shares the power collaboratively with team members.
Middlebrook holds a master’s degree in management and has more than 10 years of healthcare administration experience. Her innate interpersonal skills and resilient mindset have motivated her to seek and discover new leadership paths that allow for organizations' growth by focusing on how humans relate. As a team member of HealTree, Middlebrook actively and consistently practices the power-with dynamic and is motivated to help others learn.
