Preregistration is required
July 20, 2016

A Delaware Seashore State Park historian will lead a Hike Through History and explore the bizarre world of maritime superstition at 10 a.m. Fridays through Aug. 18. Sailors of the 19th century believed that certain customs would protect them as they took to the seas and used them to explain the unexplainable.

Participants will stroll Coin Beach and learn how the sandy coast got its name while imagining how different the Delaware landscape would have been hundreds of years ago. Tales of shipwrecks, maritime superstitions, tragedy and mystery that occurred along Delaware’s beaches will be told. Cost is $6 per person and the program is suitable for families of all ages.

Preregistration is required. For more information, call 302-227-6991 or go to www.destateparks.com.
