Hilda M. Betts, loving wife, mother

Hilda M. Betts, 97, of Milton, passed away peacefully under hospice care at Christiana Hospital Saturday, June 14, 2025.

Hilda was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, spending time with family and friends, organizing her home, and coloring. She attended Grace Church of Milton.

Like many Miltonians of her time, Hilda worked in the hosiery mill. Eventually, she moved into sales for F.W. Woolworths in Milford, where she retired after many years of employment.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry J. Betts Jr.

She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Brenda Coverdale and her husband James R. Coverdale; her granddaughters, Wendy and Regina Coverdale; her nephews; and extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, June 23, at Short Funeral Services chapel, 416 Federal St., Milton, with a time of visitation starting at noon. Burial will be held immediately following the service at Henlopen Memorial Park, 28787 Lockerman Road, Milton.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts be made to Grace Church, 514 Union St., Milton, DE 19968.
