HO Brittingham extols student achievement and school spirit

H.O. Brittingham Elementary School brought students and staff together in early December for a high-energy assembly celebrating leadership, character, academic effort and community involvement.
Celebrating both individual and collective successes, the event highlighted the many ways students are growing, succeeding and supporting one another throughout the academic year.
The fourth-grade Spanish Immersion team educators Luz Zachariaz and Jessica Ryan were recognized for continuously going above and beyond for their students and families. Students from Casey Reynolds’ kindergarten class were honored for being Most Welcoming.
Students and staff also gave a spirited shout-out to the many clubs and extracurricular opportunities available at HOB, including Junior Justice League, Girls with Pearls, Guys with Ties, Unified Bocce Ball Team, Girls on the Run, Let Me Run and Safety Patrol.
Several awards presented recognized students for their outstanding qualities and contributions. Winners of the Best Friend Award received certificates and enjoyed a round of Hula Hoop Island. Leadership Award recipients were celebrated with certificates and a fun Marshmallow Drop activity. Additional honors included the Exceptional Academic Effort Award, recognizing students who go above and beyond, and consistently work hard in the classroom.
The coveted Spirit Stick, which was previously held by Katie Chubb’s second-grade class, was awarded to Jennifer Emerson’s kindergarten class, which the judges felt demonstrated exceptional enthusiasm, teamwork and excellent listening skills during the assembly.
The school also celebrated a major accomplishment, meeting its 95% attendance goal for the month of November. To mark the achievement, students were surprised with a dance party as they exited the assembly.
“Our assemblies are a celebration of everything that makes H.O. Brittingham such a special place,” said Julie Hickman, assistant principal. “Recognizing students for their leadership, kindness, effort and enthusiasm helps build a school culture where every child feels seen and valued. We are incredibly proud of our students and the positive community they help create every day.”
