Hoey Stevenson has perfect attributes to lead District 6

October 8, 2024

I am a registered Democrat and I am supporting Kim Hoey Stevenson. In this election cycle, I value honesty, kindness, compassion and depth of character as well as experience. Hoey Stevenson has it all. I want a candidate who I can trust to make the best decision for her constituents and the community, and not be swayed by ego, greed or fear.

I first met Hoey Stevenson in 2009 when I was thinking about moving to Sussex County. I was concerned about my ability to find a job here. While I was visiting, I received her name and number as a person who worked in my profession and could fill me in on the possibilities. Hoey Stevenson not only answered my call, but also took time out of her busy life to meet me, a stranger, at the Starbucks on Route 1 to share her insights. It wasn't until I finally moved here in 2020 that I recognized her at a meeting of the Polka Dot Powerhouse of Women and reintroduced myself.

Hoey Stevenson has proved herself to be a balanced woman who can successfully juggle every aspect of her full life and stay grounded in sensibility and commonsense. As a former resident of our nation's capital for several decades, I have witnessed and experienced what can happen when politicians lose sight of what is important.

I may not agree with Hoey Stevenson on everything and, frankly, I wouldn't expect to or want to. What I do expect from an elected official, however, is that a politician stand up for what is best for community even if it offends an ego or financial contributor. Hoey Stevenson has proven she has what it takes to serve her community well. As state senator she will bring diversity, open-mindedness and dedication to the Sixth District.
