Hope MacMillan Bowers, dedicated counselor

Hope MacMillan Bowers died peacefully Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Penn State Health in Hershey, Pa., following a medical emergency that occurred while on a school field trip.

Hope was born June 8, 1982, in Fairfax, Va., to Michael W. Bowers and Jean MacMillan Bowers. She lived in Georgetown with her family and commuted to Salisbury, Md., where she was a high school guidance counselor. She loved working with the students and staff at James M. Bennett High School.

Hope leaves behind her parents, three children, two brothers and their families, as well as extended family members. Hope also had close friends in both Delaware and Maryland. She had a special relationship with Richard A. Bailey II, to whom she was previously married and had a son.

Hope’s family greatly appreciates the excellent care and compassion provided by all of the staff at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
