Covered Bridge Inn LLC and Hopkins Homestead LLC have plans to expand their existing events/wedding venue operation to include another farm property on the south side of Fisher Road near Lewes. Amy and Ingrid Hopkins have filed a conditional-use application for an events venue on the 99-acre parcel west of the existing site.

The new venue includes a facility for honey extraction and a 2,100-square-foot small-events site for one-day rentals. During a Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission May 27 public hearing, Ingrid said the additional venue is needed for one-day rentals because of the high demand for the existing venue.

Since the property is included in the Delaware Agricultural Lands Preservation Program, the plan must also be approved by that organization's foundation.

The commission deferred a vote to a future meeting. Sussex County Council's public hearing on the application is scheduled for 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 13, in the county administration building, 2 The Circle, Georgetown.
