Howard Sherman, retired carpenter

Howard Sherman, 76, of Milton, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2012.

Howard was born in Harbeson, the son of the late Roy and Fannie Sherman. He was a carpenter most of his life, working for John P. Argo for 30 years, retiring in 1999.

Howard enjoyed fishing, hunting, especially rabbit hunting, crabbing and gardening and just being outdoors. He was a member of McColleys United Methodist Church in Redden and the Harrington Moose Lodge 534.

In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by brothers George P. Sherman and Jim Sherman; and a sister, Irene Mitchell of Milford.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Thelma; a daughter, Karen, and son-in-law Donnie Brittingham; a son, Keith, and wife Lori; and a son, Kevin; two grandsons, Don Allan Brittingham and Keith Tyler Sherman.; a brother, Ed Sherman of Milton; a sister, Isabel Sturgis of Ocala, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, May 29, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, where friends may call after noon. Interment will be in Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton.
