Hunter Creek Homes welcomes Lance Mears
Lance Mears recently joined the sales and service team of Hunter Creek Homes when owners John and Joan Hamstead welcomed their son-in-law into the family business.
Mears is a Georgetown native who worked as the service manager for First State Chevrolet until he joined the family business in August as general manager of operations for the Greenwood-based residential home builders.
Mears said his previous experience in customer service is already bringing in clients who are familiar with his high standards.
"I worked to build relationships in 15 years of customer service," he said. "Our whole thing is that we are locally-owned and quality-driven."
Hunter Creek Vice President Joan Hamstead said she knew and approved of Mears as her customer service representative long before he became her son-in-law.
Previously Mears worked in construction as a side job to his position in the auto industry, but as the Hamsteads decided it was time to move ahead with building their business, their son-in-law came on board full-time.
Joan said she believes Mears is a good fit for their service-oriented family business.
"I hear some people say we take the headaches and hassles away from homeowners," Joan said. "We hold people's hands through the process."
This is exactly what John Hamstead said he hopes to continue as technologies advance. He said he believes Mears has the right combination of social graces and business savvy to make Hunter Creek Homes a profitable enterprise for years to come.
As the company grows, the co-owner and founder said he wants it to stay in the family and remain true to his vision.
"He carries that integrity and trust with him, and I think he will bring that to a whole new generation with us," John said. "He's not coming in as an employee, he is coming in as a future partner."
