IMC-Lewes to present virtual morning retreat Oct. 17

October 4, 2020

Insight Meditation Community of Lewes will welcome meditation teacher Luisa Montero from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Oct. 17, via Zoom for a virtual Saturday Morning Retreat. The event will include a dharma talk on the topic of Compassion: Weaving Kindness Into Our Lives. All are welcome to attend this morning of meditation and discussion.

Montero writes: “When we feel the suffering of another being, imagine how to help them, and take action to reduce the suffering, we are practicing compassion. Being aware of how we can support well-being in the world and acting from this is not only critical in these trying times, it is a time-tested path toward a happy life, a life well-lived. We will explore how our intention and commitment to follow through with the practice of kindness and compassion is the foundation for our own and others’ health and happiness in this interconnected world.”

Montero has been practicing Vipassana meditation since 1987 and teaching meditation since 1993. She completed the three-year Community Dharma Leadership program sponsored by the Spirit Rock Meditation Center. Montero currently teaches a weekly meditation class in Takoma Park, Md., and leads day-long and weekend retreats in the Washington, D.C. area.

The suggested donation for the retreat is $20. For those with limited income, 50 percent or any amount of the suggested donation offered is welcome. If budget does not allow for a donation, simply log in, no explanation needed.
