IMC-Lewes sets meditation with Luisa Montero-Diaz Oct. 2, 3

Insight Meditation Community of Lewes welcomes returning meditation teacher Luisa Montero-Diaz, for an evening Dharma (Buddhist teachings) talk from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 2, at St. Peter's parish hall in Lewes. Friday's talk is called Paramis: A Framework for Developing Noble Qualities of Heart and Mind. The suggested donation is $10.

Montero-Diaz will lead a full-day meditation retreat on The Paramis (Ten Noble Qualities) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Lewes Senior Center banquet hall. Dharma talk, sitting and walking meditation, and a vegetarian lunch are included. If attendees can and would like to, they may bring a dish to share. Non, beginning and experienced meditators are all welcome to attend.

The suggested retreat donation is $45 which includes lunch. For those with limited income, 50 percent, or any amount of the suggested donation offered is welcome. If an attendee's budget does not allow for a donation, one may simply show up and no explanation is needed.

Montero-Diaz has been practicing Vipassana meditation since 1987 and teaching meditation since 1993. She completed the three-year Community Dharma Leadership program sponsored by the Spirit Rock Meditation Center. She currently teaches a weekly meditation class in Takoma Park, Md., and leads day-long and weekend retreats in the Washington area.

Saint Peter's Episcopal Parish Hall is at 211 Mulberry St. near Second Street in Lewes. The Lewes Senior Center is near the Nassau Bridge just outside Lewes. Chairs are provided; however, attendees may bring their favorite floor mediation cushions for the retreat.
