Independent Transportation Network thanks Beebe cardiac rehab staff

June 29, 2018

As volunteers drivers for ITN Southern Delaware, we are in doctors' offices every day since 80 percent (approximately 2,400 of rides already provided) are for medical needs. Most of those healthcare offices are connected with Beebe Healthcare, since we started our program in the Lewes-Rehoboth area.

We are constantly recognizing that the front staff of these offices truly understand the needs of elderly patients, and are friendly, allow for lateness and confusion, go out of their way to change appointments, and offer very pleasant and personalized service. Yet, rarely does a regular driver feel so impressed, by that personal touch and empathy, that he writes to our office to offer a commendation.

Yet one of our drivers felt strongly about the great interactions staff had with patients, that he did. He stated, "It was a busy Friday afternoon with people arriving late. Yet, each patient was treated as a dear friend; staff knew them by sight, knew their families, chatted and listened intently, all the while creating a happy atmosphere where no one felt neglected or alone."

On behalf of our driver, we wish to commend Tracy Tarr, RN, and Lauren Rauch, administrative assistant at Beebe Healthcare Cardiac Rehab, as outstanding examples of the kind of personalized interactions that elders crave, and that we are witnessing every day. On behalf of patients, we thank you.
