Insight Lewes to host meditation retreat May 6

April 29, 2023

Insight Meditation Community of Lewes will welcome meditation teachers Luisa Montero-Diaz and Fran Lewandoski for A Day of Embodied Silence from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, May 6, in person at St. Peter’s parish hall in Lewes and online via Zoom. Participants are asked to bring a bag lunch/snacks.

Registration is required. Attendees are asked to RSVP to info@imc-lewes.org and indicate virtual or in-person attendance.

The teachers look forward to spending the day with participants becoming safely embodied. They will provide meditation instructions and reflections that focus specifically on embodied mindfulness practice. They will support the creation of a space of shared silence so participants’ practice can unfold.

Montero-Diaz has been practicing Vipassana meditation since 1987 and teaching meditation since 1993. She completed the three-year Community Dharma Leadership program sponsored by Spirit Rock Meditation Center. Montero-Diaz currently teaches a weekly meditation class in Takoma Park, Md., and leads retreats in the Washington, D.C. area.

Lewandoski has been practicing meditation since 1997. She is a recent graduate of the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Training Program sponsored by Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield. Lewandoski has worked as a licensed clinical social worker for nearly 30 years and is also trained as a somatic experiencing practitioner and play therapist.

The suggested donation for the retreat is $35. For those with limited income, 50% or any amount of the suggested donation offered is welcome. If budget does not allow for a donation, no explanation is needed.
