Interfaith Power and Light and UUSD to host climate change forum April 12

April 5, 2015

The Unitarian Universalists of Southern Delaware and Delaware Interfaith Power and Light will hold an interactive public forum on climate change from noon to 1:30 p.m., Sunday, April 12, at the UUSD church at 33739 Marsh Road in Toddy’s Business Complex off Route One and Wescoats Road in Lewes.

As  the 45th anniversary of Earth Day approaches, Lisa Locke, executive director of Delaware Interfaith Power and Light, will reflect upon the first Earth Day celebration in 1970, which has been called the largest demonstration in human history, and how it launched the contemporary environmental movement. She will also facilitate an interactive dialogue about what has happened to the collective environmental consciousness since 1970, and how the story will read 45 years from now.

Don Peterson, UUSD’s chair of its social and environmental justice committee, believes that while there has been significant progress since the first Earth Day 45 years ago, climate change poses one of the most significant challenges of our era.

“We at UUSD are excited to partner with Delaware Interfaith Power and Light to celebrate Earth Day and to re-dedicate ourselves to working towards a safe and sustainable environment for future generations,” Peterson says.
