International film series to feature several shorts May 5 at Movies at Midway
The Rehoboth Beach Film Society, Lewes Public Library and the Movies at Midway present the monthly film series Around the World, featuring critically acclaimed, international, independent films.
The next event takes place at 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 5, in the upstairs screening room at the Movies at Midway. This event is free and open to the public. The screening will feature an eclectic mix of short films from all corners of the globe. Included in this collection are the following:
An aging circus performer attempts to mend the troubled relationship he has with his young son in “The Great Zambini.” In “Man in the Moon,” a little man who lives on the moon spends his days longing for company. When he notices a light heading his way from the large blue planet that fills his vista, he prepares to welcome his guests.
People will no longer have an excuse not to move their bodies to the sound of digital beats after seeing “The Dance Lesson.” Two left feet? No rhythm? No problem. One man breaks dance down in this hilarious instructional dance class. In “The Sickie,” overworked and under-appreciated Douglas Knott decides to make his boss and co-workers notice him by throwing a “sickie.” Unfortunately, his attempts to enjoy a day off are sabotaged by the insidious voice of his conscience.
Vivian the doormat wants a man who’ll look after her in “Diamonds in a Bucket.” Harold the unsuccessful songwriter wants a woman to adore him and fix his tea. When they meet, they are destined to have a sad, pathetic relationship. That is, until Harold’s 30-year-old daughter shows up to change everything. In “Aided Migration,” finally, it’s time for migratory bird Sureau to go on his big migration, only to discover he is allergic to nitrogen.
A young girl discovers her personal strength in “No Bikini” during a summer swim class, thanks to an ill-fitted bathing suit. In “A Half Man,” a whole man contained in half a body struggles to maintain his daily routine and provide for the child in his care.
