The Milton Arts Guild 's September pARTy is set for 7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 16, and will offer photographers the chance to get comfortable with their cameras and get ready for those holiday photo ops. The class will be taught by fine arts photographer Anne Rhoads.
Rhoads' love of photography began in 1968 when she purchased her first 35 mm camera and started taking photos of her family. When digital cameras came out in 1998, her interest grew, and over the years since, her skill and artistry blossomed. Rhoads likes to photograph in color but uses black and white to highlight angles and shadows.
In her travels up and down the East Coast from Florida to Prince Edward Island, Rhoads has captured images of wildlife, landscapes, seascapes and lighthouses. Her favorite media are color-infrared and altered reality, which allow freedom of expression. Rhoads holds memberships in Milton Arts Guild, Coastal Camera Club and Millsboro Art League. To view her award-winning art, go to www.annerhoads.com.
In this class, Rhoads will guide participants from "how to use your camera" (addressing the basics) to "how to really use and enjoy your camera." Participants should bring their cameras and questions, and a snack or beverage if they wish. The fee is $35, which goes to support the nonprofit Milton Arts Guild. The class takes place at the Studios on Walnut at 310 Walnut St. in Milton.
