It's a red, white and blue Doo-Dah kind of Fourth in Lewes

July 5, 2011

Lewes Doo-Dah Parade organizers think the event dates back at least 50 years. In the early years, a few friends and neighbors dressed up in red, white and blue and the impromptu parade with the great name was born. Today, the July Fourth parade has caught on and attracts residents and visitors. There are no prizes, no line-up positions and the kickoff time is subject to any number of factors; people just show up and walk along the parade route. The same participants you see along Kings Highway are not always the same ones you see on Savannah Road, as people stop by their homes or join parties while others join in along the parade route.
