Jackson Borges to present organ recital Sept. 28 at All Saints' Church

Jackson Borges, director of music and organist for the Episcopal Parish of All Saints' Church & St. George's Chapel, will present an organ recital starting at 3 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 28, at All Saints' Church, 18 Olive Ave. in Rehoboth Beach. A reception will immediately follow.

Open to the public at no charge, the performance will feature a variety of master works including Bach, Widor, Elmore and others.

Borges was appointed parish director of music and organist in July 2014. Prior to this appointment, he held positions with Concordia Lutheran Church, Wilmington, as well as Morristown United Methodist Church, the Princeton Girl Choir and The American Boychoir, all in New Jersey.

Borges has premiered new organ works by Carolyn Hamlin and Daniel E. Gawthrop, has performed at regional and national conventions of the American Choral Directors’ Association and the American Guild of Organists, and has won top scholarship and competition prizes from the American Guild of Organists, the Spreckels Organ Society, and the Pacific Counsel of Organ Clubs. His major teachers have included Robert Plimpton, Alan Morrison, and the late Tom Hazleton, with additional instruction in improvisation from Bruce Neswick and Stephen Tharp.
