James Andrew Johnson, dedicated employee

James Andrew Johnson “Jimmy,” 63, of Salisbury, Md., departed this life Friday, Nov. 13, 2020, in Salisbury.  He was born Feb. 18, 1957, to the late James Hall and Margaret Phillips.

Jimmy started working at the early age of 13.  He was a dedicated employee, and worked for over 30 years at both Mountaire and Perdue poultry plants.  Jimmy loved fishing and crabbing.  He would go out in a little pontoon boat excited for his catch of the day.  He had a style of his own and enjoyed wearing straw hats, jeans and sandals, which was one of his signature looks.

Jimmy leaves to cherish his memory eight children.  He has four sons, Donald Hester of Lincoln, Keshawn Sturgis (Tia) of Baltimore Md., and Deshawn Sturgis and Antoine Sturgis of Selbyville; four daughters, Denickia Lake (Paul) of Charlotte, N.C., Quatina Jordan of Frankford, Tomeka Major (Travis) of Seaford and Tynisha Jordan of Baltimore; eight brothers, Larry Johnson (Michelle) of Seaford, Graylin Hall of Frankford, Brian Phillips of Georgetown, Darnell Phillips of Lewes, Jerod Phillips (Tracey) of Magnolia, Jeron Phillips (Tiameca) of Dover, Dwight Williams, and Vincent Mumford; and two sisters, Evangeline Keaton and Sharon Anderson; a best friend whom he lovingly called sister-in-law Valerie White; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Celebration of life will be held at Bennie Smith Celebration of Life Center, 901 W. Isabella St., Salisbury, Monday, Nov. 23, at 1 p.m. Family and friends may visit two hours prior to service.
