James Reedy Miller Sr., loved working outdoors

James Reedy Miller Sr., Jim, 84, passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021, in the loving care of Seasons Hospice.  He was born July 22, 1936, in Milford. 

He graduated from Claymont High School and married the love of his life, Beverly.  Jim loved working outdoors and was an excavating contractor, owning his own business.  After retirement he and Bev operated Sherwood’s Oyster House in Aston, Pa. 

He is predeceased by his daughter Becky Miller; sister Betty Faust; and daughter-in-law Kathy Miller.  He is survived by his wife, Beverly; daughter Kathy Benson (Bob) of Lewes; sons Jimmy (Wendy) and Kenny of Wilmington; seven grandchildren, Richard, AJ, Samantha, Jamie, Luke, Kenny Jr., Christina; five great-grandchildren; as well as his sister Janet Brady of Millsboro.

Everyone who met Jim loved him.  He will be remembered for his big smile and gentle disposition.  He was always ready to laugh and did until the day of his passing.  His family will forever be grateful for the loving care of the Seasons Hospice staff. 

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be no public service.  Graveside services were held at Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery, Newark.

Arrangements have been entrusted to McCreary Funeral Home, Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington.
