Jamming in June near Houston since 1978
Event, started after tragedy, has become a yearly highlight for local bands and their fans
June 17, 2022
June Jam started in 1978 as a fundraiser to support the family of a man electrocuted while working in Magnolia. It was such a big success that it’s been taking place every summer since. It’s grown to become one of the state’s top events featuring local musicians. This year’s event, held June 11 at G&R Campground, had an attendance of 1,800 people.
Each year, proceeds from the event, helped by a silent auction and 50/50 raffle, support nonprofit organizations, and help people and families in need.

Dancing to the music are Michael Doyle and his daughter Cassidy of Annapolis, Md. They are regulars at June Jam.

Norman Dempster, owner of G&R Campground, is famous for barbecued ribs. His secret? Oak briquets and cook them for at least an hour and 30 minutes.

Joey Fulkerson is a well-known musician throughout the area. His band is one of the fan favorites at June Jam.

It makes a difference to have the right gear when you attend June Jam, including chairs, coolers with beverages and food, and even a pop-up tent. Then you are set for more than eight hours of live music.
