Jason Anderson Foundation donates to Henlopen Soccer Club

June 6, 2017

Mark Anderson of the Jason Anderson Foundation recently presented a $1,000 check to Henlopen Soccer Club Director of Recreation Soccer Nitan Soni and volunteer Bill Swontek. The Jason Anderson Foundation was established in 2015 as a result of the death of Mark’s son. The focus of the foundation is to help Delaware children in need to participate in the youth sport of their choice. Last year, the organization gave out $8,000 in grants. This year, the organization is targeting $10,000 in grants.

“We are very very happy to help support the Henlopen Soccer Club,” said Anderson.

“It was a very easy partnership of what we are trying to do to serve our community,” said Soni. “And what the foundation is trying to do, it just seemed like a good fit. It just seemed like a natural partnership for us.”

The Henlopen Soccer Club serves players from ages 2 to 14 years old and has 477 players in the program this spring, with more than 500 in the fall months.

“A big portion of our club is on a need base,” said Soni. “There are a lot of scholarships awarded each year, so this money will get put to good use in the way the foundation would want.”
