Jean Archino, enjoyed golf, bridge

November 4, 2020

Jean Archino, 82, of Rehoboth Beach died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2020, at Cadia Renaissance Nursing Home in Millsboro. Jean was born in Lenox, Va., the daughter of the late Drexel and Marjorie (Beadle) Hunt.

After moving from Lenox to Oklahoma City, Okla., Jean started her career as a club manager. On July 3, 1964, she became an Air Force wife supporting her husband during his next 22 years of service. During that time, she received a two-year degree in business accounting and administration from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, raised two sons, Tom and Todd, and hosted many Air Force wives’ social events and activities. In that 22-year period, she moved from Oklahoma to Dayton, back to Oklahoma City during a 1968-69 Vietnam tour, then to El Centro, Calif., Washington, D.C., and finally Albuquerque, N.M. After the final Air Force tour in Albuquerque, the family moved to San Diego, Calif., where she became an auditor of National Institutes of Health Grants at the University of California San Diego. When she retired from UCSD, her final move was to Rehoboth Beach, where she worked as an accountant for a local travel agency. She was a member of the Rehoboth Beach Country Club for 25 years.

Jean was an avid golfer, great social entertainer, and a major supporter and treasurer of the RBCC Ladies Golf Association. Additionally, she was a great bridge player, had plenty of RBCC “bridge buddies,” and organized and supported many bridge activities at RBCC and privately in her home during the Christmas season. Finally, she was the stabilizing influence for the whole family throughout the many crises the family encountered. We will miss her and that blessing.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Col. (Ret) David T. Archino; two sons, David T. Archino Jr. and wife Kristine of Rehoboth Beach, and Todd H. Archino of Wilmington; one sister, Connie Hart of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren, David T. Archino III, Sam H. Archino, Theresa Ragone and Reilly Hutchinson.

Services will be held later at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Vietnam Veterans Assoc. VVA Chapter 1105, P.O. Box 424, Nassau, DE 19969 Attn: Pete Stout.
