Jean Stambaugh Marsh, Lewes native

Jean Stambaugh Marsh, 82, passed away peacefully Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at her Lewes residence, surrounded by her family. She was a Beebe baby, born June 16, 1930, daughter of her beloved parents, the late Dr. Ervin "Stammy" Stambaugh and Margaret Rhodes Stambaugh.

She was a graduate of Lewes High School and then attended Smith College in Northampton, Mass. After graduation she attended Katharine Gibbs School for Business in New York City.

In 1954 she married Lewes native Donald Shankland Marsh in Topeka, Ks. and spent the next 25 years in Austin, Texas. She took a position as an executive secretary for Farmers Insurance Group until the arrival of their first child, Russell Shankland in 1966. Her second child, Jennifer Margaret, arrived in 1968. As a stay at home Mom, she was very creative and involved with sailing on Lake Travis and the PTA. Jean enjoyed tennis, the beach and poodles, of which she had many over the years.

They moved back to Lewes in 1979. Jean was a member of the Lewes Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her parents, Jean was predeceased by her husband Donald; and cousin-in-law, Jay Dunlap Jr. Jean is survived by her son, Russell S. Marsh, his wife Suzanne and their children, Richard, Erik, and Julia; her daughter, Jennifer Pulcinella, her husband Anthony and their daughter Claudia Jean Pulcinella, all of Lewes; one brother, Jack Stambaugh and wife Jo of Henlopen Acres; her cousin, Ned Maull of Lewes; and her cousin-in-law, Francis Dunlap of Milton.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday Nov. 25, at the Lewes Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 24, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes.
