A total of 347 runners from 12 states toed the line at Grove Park in Rehoboth Beach Nov. 25 for the 14th annual Huffin’ for Pumpkin Pie 5K Run and 1-Mile Walk. A record number of leashed dogs also joined the party.
Joey Andrisani, 41, was the overall winner in 16:46. Caryn Lawler, 32, of Colorado Springs, Colo., was the first female and 10th overall in 19:37.
David Tidley, 40, of Philly was second overall and first in the male masters division in 17:09. The female masters title went to Lisa Sherman, 49, of Washington, D.C., in 22:03.
The 14-19 age group was stacked with runners home and hovering over the long Thanksgiving weekend, Bennett Brumbley, a wrestler and runner at Sussex Tech, bested 20 other male teenagers in a time of 17:54. Ryan Moody (19:21) and Ben Moody (21:07) completed the top three leaderboard.
There were also 20 women in the 14-19 age group. The order finish was Katie Kuhlman in 20:26, Lily Manlove in 22:17, Makenna Blades in 22:39, Ava Brock in 22:53 and Stella Stone in 23:15.
Ruby Leps, 9, of Lewes won the 9-and-under race in 23:02.
