Joseph M. Polichetti Sr., lived life to fullest

Joseph M. Polichetti Sr., 88, of Lewes, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019, at his home.   He was born in Philadelphia, Pa., the son of the late Anthony Jr. and Louise (Cerrato) Polichetti.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a military policeman. Joseph was a foreman at Honeywell Inc. in Fort Washington, Pa., for 40 years, retiring in 1992.  In his spare time, he was also a bartender for the Sons of Italy Club in Ambler, Pa.   Since 1966, he had been a Philadelphia Eagles season ticket holder.

Joseph was loved by all who had the pleasure to meet him. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and making great times with good friends and family. He lived life to its fullest.

As a young man, Joseph attended Germantown High School in Philadelphia where he lettered in soccer. He also enjoyed bowling, playing cards, gambling, traveling, boating and fishing.  In his retirement years he often performed odd jobs for the community.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Faye (Steele) Polichetti; and his siblings, Carl Sr., Anthony III, Eugene Polichetti, Grace Constantino and Rose Oriente.

He is survived by his children, Joseph M. Polichetti Jr. (Anne), Matthew S. Polichetti (Debra) and Jacqueline T. Marks (Nathaniel); brothers, Raymond and Louis (Patricia) Polichetti; nine grandchildren, Vincent Vecere, Alexander Polichetti (Megan), Joseph Polichetti III, Nicholas Polichetti (Hope), Matthew Polichetti (Natasha), AnnaMarie Polichetti, David Ziegler, Dominick Discuillo and Isabella Discuillo; and seven great-grandchildren.

A time of visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 13, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., in the sanctuary of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes. Mass of Christian Burial will be held immediately following. Interment will be in St. Peter’s Episcopal Cemetery, Lewes.
