June 3 auto show near Milton to raise money for Shriner's hospital

May 10, 2017

The Eighth Annual Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, June 3, at the corner of Route 1 and Route 5 near Milton. Rain date is Sunday, June 4. All proceeds will go to the Shriner's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. The hospital's highly trained team of medical specialists care for the most routine to the rarely seen pediatric orthopedic conditions and spinal cord injuries. Children up to 18 are eligible for care at Shriner's hospitals. Acceptance is based solely on a child's medical needs, regardless of the families' ability to pay.

"It's a great cause and it helps kids," said Rick Aydelotte, event chair. It is sponsored by Endeavor Lodge #17 of Milton, and has raised over $60,000 over the past seven years for charity. This will be the second year the proceeds have gone to the Philadelphia hospital. The money raised this year will be used to help purchase a mobile X-ray unit for the hospital's operating rooms.

According to Aydelotte, the car show offers something for everyone in the family. The main event is the auto show, with vintage cars, trucks and motorcycles on display. "Some of the entries in the past included vintage cars that have been rebuilt from the ground up. It's not like they bought the car in 1962 and then stored it away," he said. "The event includes a motorcycle procession with police escort from Rommel's Seaford Harley to the event on Route 1."

Trophies will be given for top finishers as well as cash prizes for Best in Show. Judges will choose winners based on select criteria including condition of cars. All cars must be driven to the contest. Towed vehicles will not be eligible. Cars, trucks and motorcycles can register for $15.

There will be food vendors, a DJ and cornhole competition. Arts and crafts will be for sale, and there will be 50/50 drawings and an auction of donated items.
