Keyla Ines Rodriguez Ochoa, television producer

Keyla Ines Rodriguez Ochoa, 75, of Seaford, passed away Thursday, Sept. 23, 2021, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes. She was born Jan. 21, 1946, in Caracas, Venezuela, daughter of the late Sotero Rodriguez and Rosa Ochoa De Rodriguez.

“Mamita,” as she was affectionately known, spent the majority of her career in television as a producer. She was also employed by the Latin Community Center as a senior program coordinator. Ms. Rodriguez Ochoa had many and varied interests and talents. She enjoyed art, music, salsa dancing, singing, and playing the cuatro. She never stopped learning, feeding her need for knowledge by studying religion. Ms. Rodriguez Ochoa had a passion and love for the Vedas teachings. She loved to travel and kept in touch with friends all around the world. An original “hippie” flower child, Ms. Rodriguez Ochoa loved all animals and always smelled of patchouli. Above all, she cherished time spent with those she held most dear, especially her beloved grandchildren. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Rodriguez Ochoa was preceded in death by her sister, Ketti Rodriguez; and her husbands: Oswaldo Rivero Ochoa and Luis Gerardo Tovar. She is survived by her beloved children: Oswaldo Rivero Rodriguez and his wife Francesca of Yardley, Pa., Keyla I. Rivero-Rodriguez of Seaford, and Shakti Ananda Casanova of Wilmington; her grandchildren: Edward Wallace Pyne, Rebekah Axtell Schuyler Pyne, Jonathan Ario Bergh Casanova, Paloma Rivero, Oswaldo Rivero, Kayden Gael Quillen Casanova, Julian Harvey Bates Casanova, Amelie R. Bates Casanova, and Kali L. Bates Casanova; her great-granddaughter, Emma Bates; and her siblings: Leopaldo Rodriguez and Rosana Rodriguez, both of Venezuela.

Services will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.
