A fixture in Lewes, Kids’ Ketch is set to bring some of its family fun to downtown Milton.

The new 1,000-square-foot store will be located at 113 Union St. next to the library. The store is owned by Lewes Kids’ Ketch owners Sandy and Lori Smyth, who said they are hoping to do a soft opening over Presidents’ Day weekend.

“We’d been looking at Milton the last few years because it's growing so much and so many of our customers are from Milton,” Sandy said. “This past fall, we were looking around the town and mentioned it to a couple of people. Next thing you know, we got an opportunity at a great space and decided now was the time to do it.”

Given that it’s a smaller space than what they have in Lewes, the Smyths said they won’t carry clothes, but will have the same brands of games, kites, educational toys, puzzles, Legos and crafts, among other items. Lori said they would also like to have events at the new store to take advantage of its proximity to Milton Memorial Park. Among the ideas the Smyths have for events are craft days, character visits and story times.

“We want to be part of what’s going on on that street,” Lori said.

Kids’ Ketch has been in Lewes for 36 years, with the Smyths owning it since 2019.

“We’re very excited about Milton,” Sandy said. “I think we’re in a great location; we’re right across from the theater. Right now, there isn’t another toy store there, and we can grow with the town.”
