Is the KKK still active in Delaware?

November 12, 2020

When I read  Mr. Schappert’s letter, I could feel the anger and passion lashing me across the page. What bothered me is that the writer clearly backed Trump.  When a law enforcement officer has contact with a Black American male, female or child, I certainly don’t want this kind of lopsided racist thinking to be in an officer’s head, sanctioned or reinforced by the police hierarchy. I would be frightened to be accosted by you.

I think it is a disservice to genialize, ridicule opposing viewpoints with your uniform on.  Such speech has a chilling effect that I find intimidating. Why don’t you simply wear a Trump MAGA hat; it would be more honest. FBI Director Christopher Wray warned the Congress that the greatest threat to domestic peace were violent white supremacist groups.  I am thinking that he might have had the same access to the background intelligence that you rely upon, yet no mention of Antifa or BLM.

Where was your voice when Charlottesville happened, when Tamir Rice was gunned down, and I could go on and on.  I think in all professions you will find some bad apples, but remember that you serve racially diverse taxpayers of differing  political parties and that some of us dispute your viewpoint, find your remarks intemperate, prejudicial and offensive.  Is the KKK still active in Delaware?  What about the Proud Boys?
