Laurel man charged in Lewes, Milton, Lincoln thefts
A Laurel man has been charged in connection with a string of thefts in Milton, Lincoln and Lewes.
Police were investigating June 10-17 regarding a series of thefts from unsecured vehicles in the Milton neighborhoods of Autumn Oaks, Overbrook Shores and Vincent Overlook; Edgewater Estates in Lewes; and Eagle Run in Lincoln.
Police said the thieves trespassed on private property during the overnight hours, and stole money and items from unsecured vehicles. During the investigations, police said, detectives identified a silver Chevy Cruz as the suspect vehicle, and they linked Donsha Sturgis, 22, to the thefts.
Police executed a search warrant July 1 at a residence on the 2800 block of Daniel Street in Laurel, and Sturgis was taken into custody without incident.
Sturgis was taken to Troop 4, where he was charged with three counts felony theft under $1,500 where a victim is 62 years of age or older, felony second-degree conspiracy, five counts theft under $1,500 and 11 counts third-degree criminal trespass. Sturgis was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and released on his own recognizance.
