Laurel man dies in crash near Harbeson

A Laurel man died following a two-car crash Oct. 16 on Route 9 near Harbeson.

Police said a Honda Civic driven by a Laurel man, 25, was heading westbound on Route 9 east of Gravel Hill Road about 6:15 p.m. when it crossed into the eastbound lane into the path of an Audi A4 driven by a Hockessin woman, 18, colliding head-on with the Audi.

The Laurel man was not properly restrained, and he was taken to an area hospital where he later died. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.

The driver of the Audi was taken to an area hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

Route 9 was closed while the crash was investigated and cleared.
