Legion auxiliary members volunteer for highway cleanup

William T. Spooner American Legion Auxiliary Unit 17 of Lewes members Jan Vanderhoff, Linda Stone and Kellie Bergen spent an hour and a half cleaning up roadside trash April 24 for an Adopt-a Highway project on Minos Conaway Road from Route 1 to Route 9.

With the grass still very tall, and the weather damp and chilly, the group collected three large contractor bags of trash. The usual miniature liquor bottles and cigarette butts were among the weeds, but the most unusual find was a debit card with the sticker still on it. They brought it home to shred.
